WARID Telecom Uganda

Talking SMS is an IVR based service that provides voice based messaging solutions whereby a customer can record a message in their voice and send it as a recorded message to another customer instantly. To send a Talking SMS, dial 175 and follow the voice instructions.

The charge for using this service is Ush. 124 per minute.

How it works:

To send a talking SMS

Dial 175
Select your language of preference by pressing 1 for English, pressing 2 for Luganda or pressing 3 for Luo
Enter the number you want to send the Talking SMS to (e.g. 0700801838) and press 1 to confirm if the number you entered is correct or press 2 to enter the number again. (the destination number is restricted to WARID mobile numbers only)
Record your message of up to 60 seconds and press * when you are done
Press 1 to confirm if the message is ok or press 2 to record the message again
The message will be sent to the recipients phone soon afterwards
The recipient of the talking SMS will receive an OBD call from the sender’s number and when he/she picks up, the recorded message will start playing.

If the recipient doesn’t pick up, the service will try calling the recipients number up to 3 times after which the message will be discarded.

The service is applies to WARID to WARID numbers only.
